Recipe under construction…
Ingredients:
- 1 kg minced beef or turkey
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp milk
- 1/2 cup parmesan, grated
- 1/2 cup bread crumbs
- 1 clove of garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp fresh basil, finely chopped
- salt and pepper to season
- 2 tbsp olive oil
(for the sauce)
- 1 onion, finely diced
- 1/2 cup red wine
- 1 tin of chopped tomatoes
- salt and pepper to season
- fresh basil to serve
Method:
- In a large bowl combine all of the ingredients for the meatballs except for the meat.
- Add the meat and mix until fully incorporated.
- Shape the meat into golf ball sized meatballs.
- Cook the meatballs in batches over a medium heat until browned.
- Once all of the meatballs have been browned place them to one side.
- Using the same pan, cook off the onion for the sauce.
- Add the red wine and cook for 1 minute.
- Add the chopped tomatoes and give it a stir.
- Gently place the meatballs into the sauce and simmer for and hour and 45 minutes.
- Serve with freshly cooked spaghetti and garnish with basil. Garlic bread is also amazing with this… just fyi.
